HUNTER INFORMATION

The following information is a brief on hunting, climate, and equipment required for your hunt.

Clothing should be light but warm for the first hunts. Temperature varies from 40 degrees to 10 degrees above with possible snow and rain.

The later hunts will be much colder, 0 degrees or colder… probably colder.

Most of our hunting is done from a vehicle or stand; however, occasionally we still-hunt. WARM CLOTHES are a must.

 1. Gun /Ammo ( 7mm Mag / 300 Mag are good choices)  10.  Down or Wool Vest
2  Binoculars 11.  Down  or Wool Jacket
 3  Knife  12.  Gloves / Mitts
4   Sunglasses  13.  Day Bag - to take gear to field
 5.  Warm Underwear  14.  Shooting Glove / Golf Glove
 6.  Extra Jeans  15.  Hand Warmers
 7.  Extra Socks  16.  Warm Hat
 8.  Boot / House Shoes  17.   Sweater
 9.  Soft Case for transport of gun to field  18.   Manual Grunt Call
10.  Range Finder (optional but helpful)  / Camera  19.  Thermos for drinks

Note – No bedding is needed - all linens are supplied - but if you have special pillow you might consider bring it

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
High-visibility Clothing
In Alberta, there is no requirement to wear high-visibility clothing (such as red or blaze orange)
while hunting, except while hunting on Camp Wainwright (special licence draws for Alberta residents). During the Camp
Wainwright hunts, all hunters must wear blaze orange or red outer wear (except bow hunters hunting in the designated "BOW ONLY" area).
We remind all hunters that safe hunting practices are always your top priority. Be sure of your target and what is behind your target!

NOTES -- Odds and Ends –

1. Fly into Edmonton International Airport, Edmonton AB Canada
You must be at the Hotel by 10:00 am SUNDAY prior to your hunt to avoid having to rent a car and drive to Athabasca
. (early hunts will vary – see schedule) If you are planning to leave the hunt early you might consider renting a car on the front end
. We cannot guarantee transportation back to the airport in the middle of a hunt week although we will make an effort if manpower is available

You will be taken back to town on Saturday evening – if you wish you can take a redeye out that Saturday Night,
although most of our customers fly out on Sunday

See the Fly In / Fly Out schedule for specific dates as they apply to your hunt.

2. All of your transportation is covered during your hunt –
provided that you remain on our standard arrival and departure
schedule for your hunt. A chartered Greyhound is our transport for your comfort & convenience

If for some reason you must deviate from the standard, we suggest your renting a car.
All of the major rental car companies have offices at Edmonton International Airport.

3. We strongly suggest that you not fly Air Canada if you have other options.
Air Canada refused some of our customers’ antlers as luggage. We do have suggestions to help those
who have to fly Air Canada and there are freight services available at extra cost for clients that Air Canada refuses.
You might want to check your selected carrier’s policy regarding antlers.

4. You might want to consider travel / trip insurance to cover
your cost in the event you are not able to make your hunt.

There are various vendors that offer this insurance at reasonable cost. North River
does not refund deposits. However we do allow you to substitute a hunter up to 30 days from your hunt date
. Our contract will be supplied upon booking.

5. Transportation of Fire Arms ---
Canada now requires all hunters register guns coming in for hunting.

We will provide the form and instruction for your temporary permit that will be valid for 1 year.
Guns need to be in a Locked Case / Ammo should be packed in a different container and should
be in new original packages (No Lose Bullets or Bullets in your Gun Case) . This will cost you $50.00 Canadian
- (Canadian Customs prefers payment by Visa / American Express or MasterCard – no checks )

6. You will need proof of Citizenship to travel to Canada.
This can be a driver’s license ( Photo ID ) and a Birth Certificate (not a photo copy) Or a Passport.
NOTE - If you have had a Felony or a DUI / DWI in the last 10 years you may have a problem
traveling to CANADA - please contact us if you have any questions.

7. Please be considerate of your food servers during your stay.
A tip is not mandatory but is greatly appreciated by the wait staff.
